Your workday
It is Monday morning and after a nice weekend, you arrive at the office. First a cup of fresh coffee and then the (working) day can begin. You start by checking all received messages in the info mailbox and WhatsApp to see if there are urgent matters that need to be dealt with immediately. Then, you consult briefly with the team to determine the priorities for the day. Together with Frank, Stephan, Guido, Dylan and Sven you make a plan for the day.
Together, you start working on the transport planning. You work together with Guido on the ‘UK planning’. You check which trailers are arriving in the ports of Immingham and Harwich today and make a global distribution for tomorrow. You send all necessary information to the customers and customs agents to ensure that all trailers are released for transport from the port tomorrow. You check all orders for tomorrow and make a final planning and schedule, this in our Transport Management System (TMS).
At the same time, you keep in touch via WhatsApp with the drivers who are loading and unloading today’s orders. You check via Track & Trace whether they are on schedule and keep all parties involved and informed. The way we work is that the ‘planner’ is not only in charge of the planning, but also arranges everything else around the transport for the customers! You are in direct contact with the customers, the customs agents, shipping companies, drivers and the people at the loading/unloading address. This way, you are fully informed and in control. This also ensures that you carry much more responsibility and have much more diversity and challenge in your work.
